Position Description:

The primary purpose for this position is to direct and manage sales activities, field marketing, and the day-to-day operations of a District Office for the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation.

Required Education:

High School diploma (or GED) required.   Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing or related field preferred.

 

Required Experience:

Three to five years of sales and sales management experience; excellent oral and written communication skills; combined with the ability to manage and motivate staff or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 

 

Must be able to travel overnight as required.  Must maintain a valid Tennessee Driver’s License at all times.

The following duties are normal for this job and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

  • Ensures that all TEL sales goals and requirements are consistently met at the retailer level
  • Sets performance standards and sales goals and/or implements those set by senior management for the district, monitoring and analyzing district sales performances
  • Recruits and supervises, directs, trains and evaluates assigned staff, handling employee concerns and problems, assigning work, and recommending disciplinary and other personnel actions
  • Functions as the TEL’s primary contact for all TEL departments at the district level
  • Responsible for monitoring the investigation, collection and/or resolution of retailer debts as requested by management
  • Coordinates implementation of programs and disseminates information regarding policies, procedures and directives from the corporate office
  • Performs field visits to retailers to evaluate adherence to the TEL field marketing and sales goals
  • Ensures that all retailers are serviced as scheduled in the absence of the assigned Sales Representative
  • Coordinates and implements district and corporate account promotional programs
  • Assists in recruiting, evaluating, and training retailers.
  • Ensures effective communication and coordination with other districts, as needed, and the corporate office
  • Participates and/or assigns staff to participate in special events
  • Performs public relations duties, including speaking engagements, appearances at civic/community meetings and special events as assigned by management
  • Monitors district office sales staff and the redemption of lottery tickets as required
  • Sells and redeems lottery tickets at the district office
  • Monitors district office staff sales and the redemption of lottery tickets
  • Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information by email, telephone, in person or mail from retailers, player’s employees, department head, etc.
  • Prepares, maintains and updates files and logs following prescribed methods
  • Utilizes and maintains a company assigned Lottery vehicle to conduct Lottery business which requires a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.  Ensures the vehicle is serviced at designated intervals and completes all required vehicle documentation
