Position Description:

The primary purpose of this position is for the effective management of the Employee Relations and Training and Development functions of the Tennessee Education Lottery (“TEL”).

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree and PHR or SPHR preferred.

 

High School diploma (or GED) required.  

Required Experience:

Five to eight years Human Resources experience required, prior training and employee relations experience strongly preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. 

 

Must possess exceptional verbal communication skills with an ability to express oneself clearly, concisely, tactfully and effectively orally and in writing; maintain confidential information; exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; be flexible, work with interruptions, and shift priorities of work as required; demonstrate a willingness to serve and assist others; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees of the corporation, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

 

Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and a valid Tennessee Driver’s License at all times, and be able to travel intra state using company vehicle.

 

No relocation.  Must be a resident of the Nashville, TN area.

Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this job and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

·         Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations

·         Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel

·         Responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints

·         Helps employees, supervisors, and department heads to settle work-related conflicts through advice and recommendation

·         Recommends solutions to VP of Human Resources when repetition of individual problems indicates negative trends

·         Manages the unemployment claims process

·         Manages the TEL Exit Interview process

·         Manages the TEL Summer Intern program

·         Manages  the TEL New Employee On-boarding and Orientation program

·         Develops and manages the TEL service award and employee recognition programs, including the development and distribution of  employee communication celebrating employment milestones

·         Manages the TEL employee training and development initiatives

·         Manages the TEL tuition reimbursement program

·         Manages and tracks employee professional development

·         Manages the “TEL Cares” Community giving programs, employee lunch and learn program, and TEL “Work Perks” special discount program for employees

·         Manages all aspects of the “TEL Wellness” committee and employee wellness and fitness programs

·         Manages and ensures appropriate and timely response to employees in need, as per the TEL Personal Incident Procedure

·         Manages employee special events
