The happy group celebrates with CEO Rebecca Hargrove.

POWERBALL persistence paid off for a group of 12 women who work together in the Nashville area. The exuberant group burst into the Nashville headquarters of the Tennessee Lottery today to claim their $1 million prize, won after their numbers matched the five white balls selected in the drawing held June 16. Since they used the Power Play option, the $200,000 prize was quintupled to a $1 million win.
"We just can't believe it!" said Joyce Gregory, the unofficial group leader who purchases their tickets each week. "We've been playing together for a good while, and now it's paid off!" The group of friends work together in the accounting department of Kroger. Between laughs and tears, there was discussion about paying off bills and how it would feel to be without debt.

About the Tennessee Education Lottery
The Tennessee Education Lottery operates entirely from the revenue it generates through the sale of its products. Net proceeds from sales of Lottery tickets, currently averaging over $5 million per week, fund specific education programs, including college scholarships, pre-kindergarten and after-school programs. Since the Tennessee Lottery began selling tickets on Jan. 20, 2004, it has raised more than $1.7 billion for these programs, and returned to Tennessee communities more than $3.7 billion in prizes and more than $412 million in retailer commissions.
