NASHVILLE - Tennessee’s Powerball game produced 29,348 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including two $100,000 tickets purchased in Ardmore and Jackson. By selecting the Power Play option, 5,357 players multiplied their winnings by three.
The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday, July 31 is estimated at $54 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first instant tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. At the end of its first fiscal year, after just five months and 12 days of ticket sales, the Lottery had raised more than $123 million for education. All Tennessee Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in the state, which initially include the HOPE Scholarship program.
