POWERBALL JACKPOT GROWS TO $97 MILLION; $100,000 winning ticket sold in White House

NASHVILLE - Tennessee’s Powerball game produced 39,930 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including one $100,000 ticket purchased in White House. By selecting the Power Play option, 6,978 players multiplied their winnings by five.

The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday, Aug. 14 is estimated at $97 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). Watch for drawings at 10 p.m. CST (11 p.m. EST) on official Tennessee Lottery television stations throughout Tennessee. The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first instant tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. At the end of its first fiscal year, after just five months and 12 days of ticket sales, the Lottery had raised more than $123 million for education. All Tennessee Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in the state, which initially include the HOPE Scholarship program.
