NASHVILLE - Tennessee’s Powerball game produced 26,242 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including one $100,000 winning ticket, purchased in Nashville, which was doubled to $200,000 by choosing the Power Play option. Another 4,989 winners selected the Power Play option, which also multiplied their winnings by two.
The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday, Aug. 21 is estimated at $14 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first instant tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. At the end of its first fiscal year, after just five months and 12 days of ticket sales, the Lottery had raised more than $123 million for education. All Tennessee Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in the state, which initially include the HOPE Scholarship program.
