NASHVILLE - Tennessee’s Powerball game produced 31,089 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including one $100,000 ticket purchased in Knoxville. By selecting the Power Play option, 6,208 players multiplied their winnings by five.
The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday, August 25 is estimated at $21 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first instant tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. At the end of its first fiscal year, after just five months and 12 days of ticket sales, the Lottery had raised more than $123 million for education. All Tennessee Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in the state, which initially include the HOPE Scholarship program.
