NASHVILLE -Tennessee’s Powerball game on Wednesday, Sept. 8 produced 30,958 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including one $100,000 ticket purchased in Nashville. By selecting the Power Play option, 5,862 players multiplied their winnings by three.
Tennessee’s Lotto 5 game on Wednesday, Sept. 8 produced 2,143 winners. There was one winning jackpot ticket purchased in Chattanooga for the jackpot prize amount of $72,690. Another 62 winners matched 4 of 5 numbers to win $201 each, while 2,080 winners matched 3 of 5 numbers for $9 each. The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday, Sept. 11 is estimated at $64 million. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first instant tickets on Jan. 20, 2004. At the end of its first fiscal year, after just five months and 12 days of ticket sales, the Lottery had raised more than $123 million for education. All Tennessee Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in the state, which initially include the HOPE Scholarship program.
