LOTTO 5 JACKPOT SOARS TO $730,000 FOR MONDAY’S DRAWING; $400,000 Powerball Ticket Sold in Chattanooga

NASHVILLE - Tennessee’s Lotto 5 drawing on Friday produced 2,814 winners throughout the state, including 78 players who won $219 each and 2,736 players who won $10 each. The Lotto 5 jackpot for the next drawing on Monday, May 2 is estimated at $730,000.

Tennessee’s Powerball game on Saturday produced 33,142 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state, including one $100,000 ticket sold in Chattanooga which was quadrupled to $400,000 by selecting the Power Play. An additional 6,820 players multiplied their winnings by four with the Power Play. The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday, May 4 is estimated at $72 million.

The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first tickets on January 20, 2004. Proceeds as of March 31, 2005 have resulted in transfers to the Lottery for Education Account of more than $291 million, in addition to more than $2 million for after-school programs. All Lottery profits will go to pay for specific education programs in Tennessee, which initially include HOPE Scholarships.
