NASHVILLE - Tennessee Lottery players have been dreaming of how to handle a $1 million-dollar prize this week as the Lotto 5 jackpot continues to soar, nearing an estimated $1,150,000 for Monday night’s drawing.

“This is a first for the Tennessee Lottery and we are pleased to see such a positive response from players,” said Rebecca Paul, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery.

“With a Lotto 5 jackpot that continues to break records and a growing Powerball top prize, jackpot fever is high in Tennessee, which means more dollars for education!”

In addition to the $1.15 million jackpot estimated for Monday night’s Lotto 5 drawing, the Powerball jackpot is estimated at $83 million for tomorrow night’s drawing.

Although no player matched all five numbers correctly in Friday night’s Lotto 5 drawing, 121 players matched four numbers to win $212 each, while 3,849 players matched three numbers correctly and will collect $11 each.

Lotto 5 drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 10:34 p.m. CST (11:34 p.m. EST); Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). Watch for both drawings on official Tennessee Lottery television stations throughout the state.

The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first tickets on January 20, 2004. Proceeds as of March 31, 2005 have resulted in transfers to the Lottery for Education Account of more than $291 million, in addition to more than $2 million for after-school programs. All Lottery profits go to pay for specific education programs in Tennessee, which initially include college scholarships.
