Largest LOTTO 5 jackpot to date won by two players.

NASHVILLE - Two lucky Tennessee Lottery players are over half a million dollars richer this morning. Two tickets, worth $589,973 each, matched all five of the Lotto 5 numbers in last night’s drawing. They were purchased in Maynardville, 25 miles North of Knoxville, and Johnson City.

This Lotto 5 jackpot run, which began rolling on April 8, set Tennessee Lottery records as the highest Lotto 5 jackpot in the short history of the game. The previous jackpot record of $765,923 was won on Jan. 31, 2005 by a single player. The jackpot for the multi-state game of Powerball continues to climb and is estimated at $96 million for Wednesday night’s drawing.

In addition to the two jackpot winners in Monday night’s Lotto 5 drawing, 124 players matched four numbers to win $203 each, while 4,053 players matched three numbers correctly and will collect $10 each.

Lotto 5 drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 10:34 p.m. CST (11:34 p.m. EST); Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). Watch for both drawings on official Tennessee Lottery television stations throughout the state.

The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first tickets on January 20, 2004. Proceeds as of March 31, 2005 have resulted in transfers to the Lottery for Education Account of more than $291 million, in addition to more than $2 million for after-school programs. All Lottery profits go to pay for specific education programs in Tennessee, which initially include college scholarships.
