POWERBALL JACKPOT SOARS TO $155 MILLION; $100,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Nashville; Lotto 5 Jackpot $275,000 for Friday

NASHVILLE - Although no player matched all six numbers correctly in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, there were 50,806 winners who purchased tickets from retailers in the state of Tennessee, including one $100,000 winning ticket sold in Nashville. By selecting the Power Play option, 8,254 players multiplied their winnings by five. The Powerball jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday, May 21 is estimated at $155 million.

Tennessee’s Lotto 5 game on Wednesday produced 1,742 winners throughout the state including 63 players who won $180 each, and 1,679 players who won $11 each. The Lotto 5 jackpot for the next drawing on Friday, May 20 is estimated at $275,000.

Lotto 5 drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 10:34 p.m. CST (11:34 p.m. EST); Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. CST (10:59 p.m. EST). Watch for both drawings on official Tennessee Lottery television stations throughout the state.

The Tennessee Lottery began selling its first tickets on January 20, 2004. Proceeds as of March 31, 2005 have resulted in transfers to the Lottery for Education Account of more than $291 million, in addition to more than $2 million for after-school programs. All Lottery profits go to pay for specific education programs in Tennessee, which initially include college scholarships.
