LOTTERY GENERATES RECORD RETURN FOR EDUCATION |
|
|
Education in Tennessee received a boost today with the announcement of a record fiscal year for the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation, which will result in a transfer to the state of $288.87 million. This will bring the total generated since ticket sales began on January 20, 2004 to more than $1.77 billion. Gross sales for the fiscal year, which ended June 30, also set a new record of $1.14 billion, bringing the total gross sales since inception to over $6.61 billion.
“We are thrilled with this year’s results,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO of the Tennessee Lottery. “Thanks to the hard work of so many and the support of players throughout the state, we continue to be a vital source of funding for education in Tennessee.”

The Tennessee Lottery returned to conducting its own drawings beginning with the midday Cash 3 and Cash 4 drawings on May 5. Due to flooding in the city, the Nashville Claim Office remains closed.
On May 3 and 4, and per its Disaster Recovery Plan, the Lottery used the numbers drawn by other lotteries that held drawings with similar games and drawing times.
“We would like to thank the Kentucky, Michigan and New York lotteries for their assistance during this natural disaster,” said Rebecca Hargrove, President and CEO.

BENTON COUPLE CLAIM $4.85 MILLION LOTTO PLUS JACKPOT |

The close-knit town of Benton, population 16,000, is abuzz with excitement about the $4.85 million win claimed Friday by Bruce and Carol “Guinnette” Maynard. Guinnette’s ticket, purchased at American Trading Post, 5015 Hwy 411 in Benton, matched all six Lotto Plus numbers drawn on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Bruce, a former truck driver, said the excitement of neighbors and others in the community is much greater than their own. “I was talking to one of my neighbors and he kept screaming and hollering and I wondered, why is he doing that?” he said with a laugh.
