On Sunday afternoon, May 16, former Air Force serviceman Harold Sweat telephoned one of his close friends and said he had “good news and bad news.” Sweat continued, “I won’t be retiring as a millionaire, but I did just win $200,000!”

Lottery players who purchased Powerball tickets from Tennessee retailers have won an estimated $1,171,911, including five $100,000 winners, the Tennessee Lottery announced. Three of the $100,000 tickets were purchased in Nashville, one in Knoxville, and one in Whiteville (in west Tennessee). By selecting the Power Play option, 8,093 players multiplied their winnings by two.
